Garland gives it 100% every shift. To be honest aside from Hogs and Hughes, id say Garland is right up there with players who play hard for 60 minutes. Mikheyev on the other hand, he can be traded for 2 packs of hotdogs for phil

I agree, buuut to get quality we need to trade quality. This would be assuming Chych would resign etc. To be honest i need to look into the cap situation more. Maybe myers insted of Mik? lol cap of some sort

What would teams pay for Chychrun with max retention
Im half asleep and might not agree with this or realize im way off value wise, but if he would come to vancouver...
to Van: Chychrun and tarasenko (50% retained)
to OTT: Mikheyev, D petey (Elias P), Auty Raty, 2025 1st
could be way off, could be over pay I have no clue. But a solid top 4 dman and a good top 6 winger seem to be key needs for Van

Frustration between Pettersson and Canucks he might not want to stay
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>batman</b></div><div>But Montreal isn’t like the other teams. It’s THE Canadians. Biggest Franchise in the league. The Los Angeles Lakes of the NHL. Everyone dreams of playing here. If the money is there and he sees our ambitions, the direction we are taking, who knows he might be interested. Lebron James won in Cleveland, but to have the « Goat » mark next to his name, he needed to win the legendary franchise. LA. A team where players like Bryant O’Neal Abdul Jabbar all won and became legends. I see it the same with the Habs, if you want to be remembered, Montreal is the best team to do it. A city who eats sleep and live Hockey. I still remember that Lehkonen OT goal vs Vegas to send us to the finals, city was going crazy, streets filled with people, fireworks, cops everywhere. It was just the ECF!!</div></div>
I mean, I get what you're saying... but without going on and on naming names, Crosby, Ovechkin, Mackinnon, Stamkos etc etc, all did quite fine in making a name for themselves, not in Montreal. Petterson does NOT like media, at all. To be honest, even though he's my favorite player he doesn't strike me as a "I need to prove my legacy in the best market!" he's more of a "let me play hockey and leave me alone, don't ask questions, etc etc
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, who knows maybe he likes Montreal. Time will tell

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>batman</b></div><div>nahh if we win the lottery + if we get Pettersson I promise you we are making the playoffs. We are much closer than you think. I think this is the off-season Hughes wants to make a splash and load up.</div></div>
Don't get me wrong, im not saying Montreal is a bad team. Im just saying if speculation/rumors are true, I can't see him signing in Canada. Nothing against Montreal by any means. He claimed he wants to play for a winning team, can't help but feel like this season caught him off guard with all the wins (up until this point) hence the stalemate/lack of contract talks. If we crumble or go out first round. He might back up his statement and ask out.
Or, everyone and their dog is overthinking. Maybe Petterson plans on signing and wants to do things his way. If he says they'll talk in the off season, lets hope they will and its solved before next season.

If Petterson decides he wants out of Vancouver, he wont sign on a worse canadian team. He is 100% going to a team in the US with a smaller market/less media. Id say close to 0% chance but who knows.
IF and only if he doesn't want to resign, otherwise pay the man and keep him here lol

Understandable, I assume other teams will have more to offer. Im not a Myers fan by any means, but to be fair he has been decent this year, UFA after this season etc. So I don't see him being a cap dump as much as I used too. Regardless, appreciate your input. Will think things over haha

Pettersson (the defenseman) is a helluva nice looking prospect. Soup has a lot.of energy.
Really a solid offer that shouldn't be passed up.
But Vatrano is a pipe dream. If Detroit is in the running, Solderblom is very likely going the other way, and he checks off every Verbeek box.</div></div>
Im a big fan of D petterson, great prospect, size and grit etc. But what a nightmare itll be if we have 2 Elias Pettersons on the team lol

I rather have Calgary trade Chris Tanev ($2,250,000 retained) in exchange for Tyler Myers or even a Canuck's prospect player like Danila Klimovich or Aaty Ratu.</div></div>
They dont "need" him, but at the moment Petterson, in my opinion, could for sure use a better linemate. No offence to Laff or Sutter etc. With kuzmenko under performing atm im just curious of what options might be out there is all.

Part 1 Forward Roster Cuts advice appreciated Rathbone time or nah
So would you guys say its fair to assume one of Pearson, Garland, Miller and maybe Boeser? would have to be moved then? We can't have a player like Hoglander playing 4th line, or sitting out games. Hes a skilled player who needs time. I agree with Dickenson, Ill slot him into 3c, alongside Hoglander.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Canucks33</b></div><div>Pearson - Miller - Boeser
Kuzmenko - Pettersson - Podkolzin
Mikheyev - Horvat - Garland
Hoglander - Joshua - Lazar
Dickinson
Pearson or Hoglander are the odd ones out. Pearson makes more sense to move but there may not be a market for him and he had a pretty good year last year. Hoglander is younger and cheaper but he didn't get the same chance to get his footing under Boudreau. He's the exception as he was actually better under Green who utilized him a lot. I would rather run with Miller - Pettersson - Horvat as centers than use Dickinson at 3C by a long shot. With those three centers, the wingers are very interchangeable based on chemistry, matchups, hot streaks, etc. Only problem is one of them will be on the 4th line, either Hoglander or Pearson for me.
Dickinson is who I have scratched up front and I would pay for him to not play for the Canucks again based on last year.
Pearson in a trade could hopefully get us a temporary RHD that is similar in age and cap hit, but I kind of doubt that. In this market I doubt we could move him in any sort of cap clearing move, so that's tough. Hoglander can definitely be moved but the value might be underwhelming. If it's for a young RHD or C then it's something to look into.
I don't see a spot for Rathbone unless he is significantly better than Dermott at camp.</div></div>
I end up having Pearson and Hoglander being the odd ones out as well. and im actually quite high on Hoglander. Id be more than happy to keep him, assuming he can get enough ice time to show what he can do, earn a spot etc. Problem is, to many other wingers deserve the ice time as well. The kid is a bulldog on the puck, if he gets his defensive side of the game in tact, he would be the type of player others would love to play with.
Sad thing about trade proposals, its hard to convince others of certain prospects value. Stats seem to be all that is considered. Therefore, its near impossble to propose a trade where both teams (fans of each) would be happy.
Id like to see Rathbone given a chance
