IF Eichel were to be traded
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shibbal18</b></div><div>Clearly not because the entire Sabres organization isnt a hole, they were 6 hours away from a play-in spot. The Sabres d was top 10, theyve already improved on their offense, all they need is a reliable backup</div></div>
If you think that all that stops to Sabres from being set as a team right now is a backup goalie, then that’s a problem. They need a 2RW, a 3C, a 4C if Larsson leaves, and another LHD before they have a decent shot at the playoffs.
I agree that they are closer than a lot of people would think, but they still have issues worth addressing

IF Eichel were to be traded
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shibbal18</b></div><div>Theyve been drafting for 5 years with Eichel, its supposed to get better when he leaves? Rossi and Perfetti wont be there at 8 and Lundell is overrated. The Sabres have Dahlin, what are you talking about, they havent had a stud Dman like Fox? Dahlin is 2 years younger and better. Their D was top 10 last year, only sewered by a bad PK and bad goaltending when Ullmark was hurt (Hutton). The Sabres arent rebuilding and none of those pieces are a need, so none are enticing.</div></div>
That’s why this is an IF! Obviously I want to keep Jack, but if he were to request a trade, then I’m going to get at least Laffy and Fox from the Rangers.
Obviously we have no idea if the drafting will get better, but maybe they start using analytics more. Ik there’s a good chance Rossi and Perfetti aren’t there, but who is overrating Lundell? Chad is the only one hyping him up.
He’d be perfect, a two-way center.
Also, I was taking about having a right-handed stud defensemen when talking about Fox. I love Dahlin and think he’s a franchise guy. I’m just saying Fox is a RHD that would solidify the corps.

IF Eichel were to be traded
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shibbal18</b></div><div>Fox does nothing, The Sabres defense is fine. Laf is not going to carry the Sabres by himself, Eichel couldnt do it and hes a center, McDavid cant do it in Edmonton with Drai and theyre both centers. The Sabres are a 2C away from being a wildcard, which they've acquired in both Staal and eventually Cozens. Theyres no reason to rebuild. So you can just slap things together and call it fair, but if it doesnt address any of the Sabres issues they have no need to do that trade, especially when theirs 0% chance Eichel gets traded. And no Eichel is not over valued on this site</div></div>
This is a bad take imo. While it obviously hurts their center depth in the short term, drafting can fix that. Depending on who they take in this draft they would have a nice 1+2 combo with Cozens and Rossi/Lundell/Perfetti. Laffy hopefully pans out as a franchise guy, and fox is a stud RHD that the Sabres haven’t had in years. They probably don’t need Igor with UPL coming soon, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to have two great goalies.

IF Eichel were to be traded
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>villenash</b></div><div>Their best defenseman, their best goalie, and their (soon-to-be, maybe) best forward (1OA) + 2 additional 1st round picks... and all 3 of those players are under the age of 24 and all on ELC's.
Nope.</div></div>
That’s why this is an IF. Also, Jack Eichel is arguably a top 5 player in the league. He is worth at least Laffy and Fox. That’s completely fine if you don’t see the Rangers accepting, but this is near the ballpark it would take to get Eichel.
