Duchene can't sign for more than 7 years as a UFA. And 10 Mil would be risky since we get an extra hit next season from the Perry buyout (6Mil opposed to 2Mil this year). I think trying for 8 to 9 for 7 years would be safer, thought still a long shot. I would also avoid Stralman as he's going to get paid over 4 Mil for stats that look better on Tampa. Solid resigns.

Ideal 2019-2020 Ducks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RandyC</b></div><div>Couldn't agree less. Even being inherently biased as a Ducks fan, I still feel that if anything, its a little light for Ristolainen. He's been a lock for 40+ points on some marginal Sabres teams. Comtois at best will be a 30 goal guy. Larsson and Morand will both be solid NHL'ers, but are nothing to write home about. Even with throwing in an early second, I'm not entirely sold it's enough for a right handed D-man that consistently puts up points. I'd do this in a heartbeat as a Ducks fan, but could easily see it taking more to get him out of Buffalo.</div></div>
In a heartbeat? You're talking about trading away a former 1st round pick, two former second round picks (one of whom is playing more like a first rounder) and the 39th overall pick in this year's draft for a d-man who is a career -143. Yes he puts up a lot of points and he's actually on a pretty good contract but that's mortgaging a huge chunk of our future for a player we don't need THAT badly. I'm in favor of a move to get someone like Zaitsev because the apparent cost is minimal. This team isn't a d-man away from contending. We're at least two years away from contending again (i.e. when Getzlaf and Perry have moved on and we've hopefully drafted well enough to replace them). We could have a legitimate star in Comtois and I'm not eager to trade him for anybody at this point, not while we're still rebuilding/retooling/re-whatever-the-hell-we're-doing.

Ducks
1. I don't think we'd get as valuable a player as Fowler with Colorado's own pick. 2. I'm not averse to trading Ritchie and I agree with you that he'd probably bring a second and lower pick (maybe even a fourth), but I'd prefer to give Shore and Sprong a full year to see what their upside is. 3. I think we'll see Murray buy out either Kesler or Perry this summer, depending on Kesler's latest physical. 4. Why be piggy? I'd settle for getting the second pick, because between Hughes and Kappo, we'd have a starter from day one. 5. I don't think anyone will be able to outbid the no-income-tax-state teams for Karlsson.

Ducks Moves for next year
You're spot-on: the right side of that defense is starting to look a little weak, isn't it? I think you're correct that Murray's chief objective this summer will be to strengthen it. I don't think Mike Hoffman is the answer to the scoring problem, though -- not that I have a better suggestion.
