Description
Leafs roster opening night. I am not sure stamkos is in the card, but I feel that he is an unnecessary investment at this point in the rebuild, but I won't complain if he do sign with the buds. Not sure what to do with lupul, just leaving him on the depth chart and waiting for the inevitable injury.
With all of the ammunition of picks at the draft, I feel the leafs need to make a move up the board for an impact defender, but I think that babs will request some sort of upgrade in the top 4, and demers being a right hander to boot would be a decent signing. I would love for the leafs to make a move on a young goalie prospect (demko/subban) or even better for Vasilevski from tampa using the Pit first rounder.
The leafs cap situation will be much better during the 2017 off season, when robidas/laich/michalek/greening/Hunwick/bernier will all be off the books, and possibly bozak in a trade or even better (but not likely) someone to take lupul off their hands (if clarkson can be traded anyone can!) Burns and hedman will be free agents, hopefully the leafs could bring one of those on board plus another top 10 first round pick, and gear up for a run at Johnny T the following summer, when the kids have a few years under their belt and the leafs will be expected to make some noise! Go Leafs Go!
