    Cap circumvention..,, if you’re going to break the rules you’d be better off to have him bought out and re sign him at league minimum.

    thank you, why arent teams that have cap space allowed to benefit from it tho, seems unfair, should be an open and free market

    Rules are written directly into the CBA to prevent exactly what you are talking about. Cap circumvention is not allowed in the nhl. To be honest if both teams agree to the trade it does seem like an unfair rule. But once you give owners and gm’s An inch they will take a mile.

    I’m not sure You’d have to read through the cba. I know they have an extensive section on cap circumvention.
