If you have reason to believe that Duchene will sign a long-term deal in Montreal, this is a reasonable exchange. But without an extension locked in, no chance Montreal would do this. If Duchene isn't moved by 2PM next Monday and if Montreal is still in the playoff hunt (two really big "ifs"), I could see MB bending his "no rental" policy but for a lot less than this haul.

And if Duchene is going UFA, Ottawa doesn't care about any in-division crap. They'll take the best offer, PERIOD.
