I think Gardiner goes and potentially gets a 6M offer somewhere. By doing this, they get a cheaper replacement in Dekeyser after 875K retained and gain a 2nd round pick. Just tossing it out there.

NHL 19 doesn't factor in their cap constraints. You're just upset at the name of the team.

Duchene will likely sign a large contract this offseason taking him off the market for 20-21 and he won't end up in Detroit. He'll want to go to a contender, not a team that needs a ton of work like Detroit. The Avalanche will be a serious Cup contender, if not already, in the next 5 years and if Barrie keeps producing as a top 10 offensive D-man in the league like he has been, he is going to get PAID in Denver. Hirose will also be on the final season of his ELC so he doesn't need to be signed until the offseason. Detroit needs highly-touted younger players ready to be signed to their first contract in order to start a solid rebuild, not big name guys to big contracts. And if it's 2020-2021, buyout Abdelkader already and trade Glendening for a pick.
