2019 Opening Night
Nice work. I would be ecstatic if these trades happened. I think the Vegas situation might take more, prospect on way back or something.
The Fleury one I also took a run at in a previous GM'd team as well. I think it would be a great fit, however, the de Hahn gone, I think Fleury is staying put. He also was just offered a deal yesterday which I would assume he signs.
I do like the trend wings are moving too. Big and skilled D, can't have too many, if a few pan out and you feel it's a position of depth they always return high value.
Cheers

I tend to believe they're going to match as well, just messing around with the idea of it. But I think you are right. Additionally, I don't see Yzerman offer sheeting anyone.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Why not propose a trade at #3 to ensure you get Byram?</div></div>
I don't see my offer changing from what is above. It would be a fair offer to move up. But ultimately if there was an additional bargaining chip the swap of the sharks second rounder to the wings second rounder would be the improvement to move up.
Will be interesting to see what, if anything, happens regarding the order of the top 1-10 spots at the draft. A lot of uncertainty in the ordering of prospects.

The Athletic Trade Rumors
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jfstompers</b></div><div>I wouldn't want to move hronek especially with how he looks at the worlds right now. but maybe 2 2nds and a guy like cholo if trouba agreed to an extension</div></div>
Again I would be very reluctant to move Cholo. He's still maturing and adding physical strength, not to mention working on the mental side of the game. He has the tools (skating, passing etc), looked great at times and struggled at times. The great part is more of what I'm focused on. People often forget Duncan Keith spent two full years in the AHL before maturing and becoming well on his way to a Norris trophy candidate for years.
Cholo is a 1st rounder for a reason. Hronek has slowly grown and developed over the last couple of years and really come into his own this season. We need to be patient and give Cholo the same opportunity. The time for Detroit isn't to win this season or next. But continuing to stay the path and drafting/developing will set them up for a long run.
I'm against trading any of Cholo, Hronek, McIssac until they have a complete opportunity to develop and become the players the organization believes they can be.
Unfortunately there's no quick solution for the Wings. Trouba isn't making them a contender this year, not worth throwing away three future pieces for him on a non contending team.
Next years UFA's on D - Barrie, Trouba, Krug, Pietrangelo, Vatanen, Faulk, Tanev etc - If wings have another strong year of development, I can see them pursuing Barrie, Trouba, Krug or Faulk or possibly putting a package together for Cam Fowler.

The Athletic Trade Rumors
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jfstompers</b></div><div></div></div>
He is absolutely wanted, but the price has come way off. Everyone in the league knows he's going to move on within a year. They can either play him for the year in hopes they chase a cup, or they can move him, but it will be at a discounted rate than what a true hockey trade would be where he'd likely command a Mantha etc if it was player for player. This isn't the case, it's a move out because they know they're losing him.
I'm not saying it'll be Green for sure or if Yzerman even makes a move for him. But some of the trade scenarios i've seen online make me laugh. The gross overpayments for a player that's going to choose where he's playing 12 months from now is just unrealistic.
I've seen people include Hronek, a first/2nd and prospect(s). That would set the franchise beyond backwards.

I think you'll see that improve immensely in the coming years. He's still really young. His skating is very impressive. I watched him live during the Memorial Cup a couple of years ago and he absolutely dominated his peers. As he continues to mature I think he's going to be a force out there.

The reason Green is included in the conversation is because Peg is in win NOW mode. Green still has value. Can skate, QB a PP, and makes a crisp pass out of his own end. He's a guy that if needed to play top 4 mins is an excellent number 3/4 for a team looking to make a run NOW. The picks are more where the value comes in from Wpg's perspective. They're losing Trouba and everyone knows it, once the words out, there's only so much value to be had for Trouba.

big trade with detroit
As much as I'd like to see Trouba in a wings jersey, I'm not convinced I could stomach that payment.
We currently have several Perreault's and Kulikov just log jams the defence on the wings even further.
Essentially giving up two seconds, a 3rd, Bowey and Green . . . . Green I can call a write off for Kulikov. Believe it or not I'm actually high on where Bowey's game could go. His analytics are solid and he passed the eye test the last 15 games or so with the wings getting regular time this past season.
So for me it comes down to would I do Bowey, two 2nd's, a third and a 6th for Trouba for a year and the opportunity to bid for his services. I wouldn't. At best I would do Bowey a 2nd and a prospect within the system.

The obvious challenge is that Josi is due an extension after the 19-20 season.</div></div>
I'm sure they wish they could go back and just nix the Drouin for Sergachev deal. Sergachev is going to be a force in another couple of years.

PK DET
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DonVito</b></div><div>I think we can all agree though that Abdelkader and Ericsson should be buried in the minors for the remainder of their contracts</div></div>
Ericsson will be gone after this year anyways so it's not worth buying him out. I can stomach another year of Abby bouncing in and out of the lineup. But once the 19-20 season is done, its time to creatively remove him (or most of him) from the books. I think that's Yzerman's biggest challenge. Frans is another task, but he has value, just his contract is too long and about 1.5 mill too high for the production. You can eat some of his contract and move the term likely without too much pain. Abdelkader on the other hand isn't trending in the right direction, has a limited skill set and has far too much term for what he brings to the table. I think this one will be tough to move without dropping an asset of decent net worth.

PK DET
I like PK's game and always have, would be great to see him play for the wings. But to part with Hronek right now would be something the Wings would regret for years and years to come. He's slowly progressing into what could very well be a cornerstone of the Wings D for the next 10 years. He's young, mobile, makes a great pass out of his zone and is very savvy on the PP. I think he's a defensive piece the Wings will build around for years to come.
I love the addition of Valeno into the third line, I legitimately believe they give him a fair shake to make the team this year, get him NHL minutes and allow him to learn and progress as they'll want to be competing with him in a couple of years from now.
