they dont want green or his contract. maybe you could talk them into a young cheap guy for depth like hicketts or bowery but 2 2nds and a depth defenseman probably isn't enough.

Yet they'd take Ristolainen at 3 x 5.4 which is even worse then Green. I can understand not wanting and injured Green. But saying Green's contract is worse then Ristolainen is a total joke.

The reason Green is included in the conversation is because Peg is in win NOW mode. Green still has value. Can skate, QB a PP, and makes a crisp pass out of his own end. He's a guy that if needed to play top 4 mins is an excellent number 3/4 for a team looking to make a run NOW. The picks are more where the value comes in from Wpg's perspective. They're losing Trouba and everyone knows it, once the words out, there's only so much value to be had for Trouba.

2 x 2nd rounders plus a roster player is more than enough for a one year rental (Trouba). Jets fans just don't like the fact that he will be a 1 year rental. So saying that I don't see him re-signing before UFA in July 2020 (even with his hometown team).

I didn't say anything about risto or his contract , I just said they dont want a guy like green whos hurt a lot taking up 4 million bucks. they are in win now which is why that money is so important. If they want to move trouba for a 4.5 million dollar player to win now they can do better than green.

touba is a 25 year old top pair dman and yes knowing they have to move him hurts the value but after myers and gardiner the ufa market is terrible and hes going to be wanted.

My mistake, I actually went to make his retained salary 50%. i missed a zero, supposed to retain $2,500,000.

He is absolutely wanted, but the price has come way off. Everyone in the league knows he's going to move on within a year. They can either play him for the year in hopes they chase a cup, or they can move him, but it will be at a discounted rate than what a true hockey trade would be where he'd likely command a Mantha etc if it was player for player. This isn't the case, it's a move out because they know they're losing him.

I'm not saying it'll be Green for sure or if Yzerman even makes a move for him. But some of the trade scenarios i've seen online make me laugh. The gross overpayments for a player that's going to choose where he's playing 12 months from now is just unrealistic.

I've seen people include Hronek, a first/2nd and prospect(s). That would set the franchise beyond backwards.

I wouldn't want to move hronek especially with how he looks at the worlds right now. but maybe 2 2nds and a guy like cholo if trouba agreed to an extension

Again I would be very reluctant to move Cholo. He's still maturing and adding physical strength, not to mention working on the mental side of the game. He has the tools (skating, passing etc), looked great at times and struggled at times. The great part is more of what I'm focused on. People often forget Duncan Keith spent two full years in the AHL before maturing and becoming well on his way to a Norris trophy candidate for years.

Cholo is a 1st rounder for a reason. Hronek has slowly grown and developed over the last couple of years and really come into his own this season. We need to be patient and give Cholo the same opportunity. The time for Detroit isn't to win this season or next. But continuing to stay the path and drafting/developing will set them up for a long run.

I'm against trading any of Cholo, Hronek, McIssac until they have a complete opportunity to develop and become the players the organization believes they can be.

Unfortunately there's no quick solution for the Wings. Trouba isn't making them a contender this year, not worth throwing away three future pieces for him on a non contending team.

Next years UFA's on D - Barrie, Trouba, Krug, Pietrangelo, Vatanen, Faulk, Tanev etc - If wings have another strong year of development, I can see them pursuing Barrie, Trouba, Krug or Faulk or possibly putting a package together for Cam Fowler.
