Description
As the title suggests, this team is designed to have the forwards each taking as close to 15 minutes of ice time each. Having the fourth be as dangerous as the first is the idea.

Don't sign Duchene... you realise that we lose Mete and Domi if you do...

I don't think so. Indeed, my bigger concern would be securing Gallagher and Danault a year further out.

For the 20-21 season, Domi will move from $3.5M to $6M or $7M for a long-term deal. So an increase of $3.5M. Mete will move to a decent second contract of $2.5M, maybe $3M. So an increase of $2M. The cap will roll up -- for argument's sake -- $2M, though likely it'll be a bit more. So the need will be to find between $3M and $4M. I suspect that would come in the form of trading a winger, one of Tatar, Shaw or Drouin, but not until AFTER next season. My

Looking at the 21-22 season, Kotkeniemi, Gallagher, Tatar, Danault and Petry will all come off contracts. That's $19M or so. Obviously, not all can be re-signed. Assuming one of Brook or Fleury emerges, either Petry leaves or Weber is moved to finish out his years with a team that has cap room. If you take Petry's $5.5M and add another year of cap growth ($2M) that could be divided between Gallagher and Danault easily enough. That leaves Tatar and Kotkeniemi. I suspect Tuna will be the odd man out and his $5M will go to Kotkeniemi. This is OK as, by then, Poehling, Suzuki and others who should be taking jobs from these guys.

If you can pull that off, great, but if an auction occurs, I can't imagine there won't be teams bidding higher than that. My thinking is there's no way we can use all of the RHDs coming up and most of the mock drafts seem to suggest the Habs will do what they do best and draft a Dman again. If the Habs can land a top-level talent like Kapanen -- another Finn to grow up with Kotkeniemi -- then it would seem a sound investment.

Brook can play both side & have a high potential. We can trade Juulsen or Fleury thats it
