Wanted to make the moves as reasonable as possible. Yamamoto, Benson, Bouchard can all push for spots. Long term outlook is positive IMO.

Rumored at trade deadline. Would fit needs of both teams
2.
EDM
  1. 2019 7th round pick (OTT)
OTT
  1. Manning, Brandon
Additional Details:
Ottawa will need players as rebuild continues. Manning is young, will help them get to cap floor, and only has 1 year left on deal
3.
EDM
  1. 2019 3rd round pick (EDM)
FLA
  1. Sekera, Andrej
Additional Details:
After Yandle and Ekblad, Florida has fewer D options. Sekera is still a good defender, and Florida has the cap room for him. Rumored to be going all in in FA Florida could use him

I think the team you made is solid. However, I think Russell to FLA makes more sense, less cap hit and has played more games than Sekera in the last couple seasons. Maybe look at Pysyk for Russell (1.3M going towards FLA cap) but that could help them add another D.

The Benning-Brown trade is iffy for the Oilers because we're trading for a bottom 6 F and expecting him to become a Top 6RW just because of McDavid. I think Benning has more value because he's a defenceman and has offensive upside. I would trade the 3rd rounder we got from NYI for Brown. However, why spend that asset when we could simply resign Chiasson for that money or less. They're both Top 9 Forwards anyways.

Also you might be overpaying JP a bit. I think he gets around 1.5M on a 1 year deal, if he does well then he can sign a better contract.

I guess you can look at is as Russel for Pysyk of Sekera for Chiarot. Either way you have to send one out and bring in a cheaper option who can either A) play top 4 minutes or B) be a stable defender beside Jones or Bouchard.

I see Brown has chemistry with McDavid as we all know, but i see him as a puck retrieve on that line with Zuccarello or Dzingle. Either way he is not Connors primary winger there. He has 1 year left as a show me year. Benning is pretty much gone, Jones and Bouchard guarantee that.

I agree with Jesse, figured for the purpose of this exercise its easier to leave it high than low.

Yea, I'd prefer Pysyk - Russell rather than Sekera/Chiarot. I think Sekera is a solid mentor and obviously well liked in the locker room. Also Pysyk is RHD and has 1 year left. Should Bouchard tear it up next season in the AHL, we can simply let Pysyk walk.

Although Benning is pretty much gone, that doesn't mean the Brown/Benning trade is a good one. As I've said, plenty of Browns in FA, not a lot of quality 3rd pair young RHD. I think Jones gets lots of looks this year but his full time NHL arrival is probably 2020-2021
