Description
The great thing about this team is that it's actually good without a high profile signing, but if they wanted to sign an Erik Karlsson, Jeff Skinner or Anders Lee, they totally can. 11M in capspace after filling the holes they have is impressive.

For anyone who says the Senators wouldn't do the Dubinsky trade, think of it like a gentlemen's agreement between Dorion and Kekalainen. I gave you draft picks for your two best players, now you can take this contract off my hands for some of your draft picks. And I'll sign Paajarvi to show you I'm serious.

Seriously though have people just given up on Paajarvi? He's a serviceable depth player. So is Filppula, in addition to being a playoff warrior.

Sens fan here. Three thoughts:

There's next to no chance Duchene takes less than 8.5-9.5, and there is absolutely zero chance he takes less than 8 in CBJ. Being able to offer the 8th year is a leverage point in negotiations for CBJ.

Just because Ottawa took half of CBJ's picks at the deadline, doesn't mean they're going to do y'all that huge of a favor and get nothing for it. Get real.

And finally, do not sign Paajarvi. He's got good speed, but he's not good. He's got terrible decision making abilities in the defensive and neutral zones, and he's a black hole offensively (unless he's up against Toronto. He scored like half his goals against them this year). If you're that desperate to pick up a former Senator, go for Brian Gibbons. He's wicked fast, reliable defensively, and shockingly creative offensively. Was a lot of fun to watch down the stretch.
