Description
Sparks can't be the backup. Either try to get him to the minors or trade for a pick. A 3rd rounder might be a bit much, but they get a pick for him regardless, not a roster player.

Curtis Mc back for one year to give Babcock some confidence in his backup again. Curtis can play 20-22 games and win. Deserves over $1m after last year with the Canes.

Marner is getting over $10m on a long term deal but think they get him under $11m in the end. Maybe it gets over $10.5m but there is still some cap room if he does.

Brown is going somewhere for a 3rd rounder. Why hasn't this happened yet.

I don't love Myers, but if you can get a RD and not trade anyone, worth a try.

Hamonic or Brodie are likely out of Calgary. I would rather Hamonic because of his cap hit, especially if he would re-sign. Threw in a pick from the Brown trade as Calgary should add something as Hamonic has 1 year left, but adding Jankowski put it to much in the Leafs favor. Might have to be a 2nd with the retained salary.

Lots of talk of Zaitsev to Vancouver. Traded 4th rounders in there with the Leafs likely getting the better pick that year.

Kappy for Greenway. Wild have to add to the trade as Kappy coming off a 20 goal season. Put teams could offersheet him for a 2nd rounder so don't have to add much. Leafs have lots of RW and could use a LW and Greenway has lots of size which the Leafs need as well.

With all these moves, couldn't retain a lot on Marleau, so did the standard trade for a LTIR player. This could be Anaheim with Eaves or Arizona with Hossa. I think it makes more sense with Arizona as they get some leadership for a team that could make the playoffs. Paying for a roster player as well not LTIR player is key for a money tight team.

I think Sandin or Liljegren could be with the club by the end of the year, but not both. They would replace Rosen and Dermott plays either LD or RD depending on who.

A little cap space there but nothing left for the trade deadline. But they wouldn't need to add this year with this roster.

Nice moves. Might need some work. Don't see CCY retaining on Hamonic or Sparks getting a 3rd. Also I'd be surprised to see McElhinney sign with Leafs, wasn't he just waived last year?

Overall this is one of the better AGMs here

Yea, can likely take the retention off Hamonic. I ended up trading Kappy and it created lots of cap. Now they can pay Marner a bit more if needed or retain more on Marleau.

Sparks for a 3rd is a stretch, it was just because Carolina had 3 of them and may pay more then someone else. He likely gets a 5-7th rounder or they try him on waivers to the minors.

McElhinney may re-sign - they put him on waivers to try and get him to the minors to give Sparks a shot. If not they go after someone like Kinkaid or Ward, someone with experience and can play 20-22 games

Depending on the cost of the 2C they'll eventually acquire, they might forced to do so.

They could use Roslovic for acquiring a D prospect though. Didn't he request to be traded?

It's hard to say what they are going to do. Myers gets over $6m if he tests the market. The Jets likely can't get him over $6m but would likely give him over 4 years to get him to stay. I could see them letting Myers walk and trading Trouba with a RD coming back.
