I think it a tough sell to the Kings players and fans that the Kings would take a Marleau instead of signing another player. Not that Marleau isn't worth 2.5 or so but 4. 25m...do the players and fans think that money could be spent better?

Let's assume the trade as published goes through. The Kings are paying a cap hit for year of 4.25 for let's say a 2.5m player. So it's not a great cap hit by the Kings. Is his "leadership" worth it...on a veteran Kings team? Heck maybe he plays well and is traded to San Jose at TDL for a second rounder. Maybe that's the Marleau's Cup dream. I hoping for that Leafs/Kings handshake that was made in January.

Leafs would still be about 2.5m over cap but this would be a start.
