If Boqvist gets us Trouba, you've gotta do it. I know he had a great season in Sweden, but you just never know what type of player he is going to be in the NHL – his trade value may never be higher.

Two points about this: I'm of the mindset that you can't trade Butcher, no matter what. He was the first college free agent to choose the Devils, and if Ray ships him off before his 2nd contract – which I'm sure came with a handshake agreement for a second deal – the Devils will never land another college free agent ever again.

Secondly, the Jets are trying to win a cup in the next 2-4 years – they are looking for pieces that will help them do that. I don't see them trading Trouba for picks, prospects, or anything else that won't help them win now.

I think you can trade Butcher and have college free agents still sign with the Devils, but let him have some say in where he goes. Basically give him a figurative 8-12 team no trade clause. If they just traded him to Ottawa; then yeah no one would sign with them again but he is still gonna get paid wherever he goes.
