No point if you aren't going to use the cap space. Especially Gagner and Manning who are UFA's after this year..

With the price Toronto had to pay to get rid of Marleau, Lucic would take multiple first round picks to move.

yes the point is it give flexibility to either sign a couple free agents or trades for anyone for example gusev or namestikov or johnson.

retaining 2 million would take away the multiple picks. Lucic can still play hes just not a 6 million dollar player. 4 yes is still pricey might have to add a prospect or another pick but not a first.
also CBJ traded away alot of assets last year so think they would be willing to add for taking on a 3rd/4th liner.

also manning is just burried which will happen any ways as he could not even crack the AHL line up last year
