That NYR trade is pretty wild, I don't thinkt they trade Buch after just signing him at a good price. Here is my proposal that still works well for the Oilers in all this:

Its def a wild one but they are in such a cap crunch and truly wont contend whether they think so or not and they desperately need to free up cap while acquiring prospects and picks, buch is def a solid piece at a good price but i mean he is not a super proven payer so there is a risk of regression, it might take a conditional firs trounder to make the buch trade but i mean gagner was on pace for around 7 or 8 less pts then buch and he can play all over the line up so i think their is merit but def understand what your saying, i will be commenting on your response to solution 1 as well.
