Can't really say he's "returning" as he never actually suited up in a game for the Sharks

he's a middle 6 winger who can win faceoffs
CHI paid more then that for Shaw at a higher cap
Coyle's had 50 + points , Shaw hasnt outside that there game is very similar
his main purpose is as a secondary center to take 500-700 faceoffs a year and help the young Centers out .
his defensive reliability makes him a perfect rookie mentor with more upside to his two way game then Shaw had but the same heart .

seems to me this is about Market Value if you understand his role and what he brings

Shaw year 1 started with Danault on 4th LW and 40 games later he was #1 Center in Montreal replacing both Desharnais and Galchenyuk under 2 coaches .

Year 2 he played with Pacioretty primarily during the worst low point of his career until he got producing again at which point he joined Galchneyuk-Lehkonen on 3rd line and secured our last playoff run (Chucky scored 3 OT GWG in the last weeks before the playoff and Lehkonen had 11 points 6 goals and 3 GWG's in 12 games and 4 pts in 6 playoff games as one of only four-five habs to show up in the playoffs )

Year 3 Shaw slotted in beside Domi helping him hit a Career high in points at 72 and triple his goal output while also helping him shift to 2nd line Center full time .

these types of players are Crucial to development but you only ever notice them if you played Competitive Hockey. (non players never consider anything but points and maybe hits if they lead the league but outside that all other area's are ignored by mainstream fans who never had a hockey coach to teach them )

Ok well with all that in mind its a no from the sharks. Very disingenuous and comes off as a humble brag to imply that only a pro hockey player knows the value of a strong two way center. That just isnt what the sharks need. We need a scoring winger to help replace the goals we lost in Pavs and Nyquist. Our center depth is super deep and trading for another pure center makes no sense.

Not only we're not moving Coyle.

Second not for 2nd rounder (46-62) and Jacob Middleton, who will be a career AHLer lmao

Send Meier and then we'll talk.
