Description

Habs get some mid picks for a veteran forward who had his best years under Claude Julien, Canucks do retain a significant amount and take on Peca's full contract.

Habs help the Flames out who are looking for a D after the Valy injury. Flames also need capsace to sign Ktachuk which is why they move Frolik in the deal in return they get Hudon who needs a change of scenery and Reilly who showed he is an NHL level D.

At the deadline, Habs flip Frolik who is a UFA, and will have a very low cap hit for a contending team. Moving Frolik allows the Habs to call up Suzuki or Poehling after gaining some experience in the AHL.

Eriksson deal is a risk for Montreal, the aging forward did play his best years under Julien and could be a great special teams guy. If it works out the Habs could be able to flip him in a year or two for possibly a second or third which is more realistic. If it doesn't the Habs can put him in the AHL or use a Compliance Buyout if they have the option to when the CBA expires.

At the end the Habs get two veteran forwards who would excel in the Habs system, and provide some depth scoring. The big benefit is the draft picks. Habs are hosting the draft and want to make a splash.

The Eriksson trade isn't really worth it... 3,5m$ for 3 more years while we have to re-sign KK, Danault,Domi ,Gallagher, Petry isn't ideal. Especially if we only get a 3rd and 4th
