So what is going on with the Rantanen. Contract? I haven’t heard much. Do you think he signs for 9.5m after the marner deal?

I haven't heard many rumours about AAV or term but I don't think Colorado will use Marner as a comparable. Tbh it was an overpayment and I don't think Sakic is one to give in like that, look how long he waited on the Duchene trade. Not that I want mikko to hold out like nylander did, but having a higher cap hit for the 1st year wouldn't be a bad thing since we have extra space this year. I think he ends up between 9-10 on a longish term deal

I didn’t think Joe would jump on the let’s use marners contract. But I have read some funny stuff on twitter. “Avs won’t Use marner as comparable” like they are the only ones at the table. You know Rantanen will try. He may take a little less than marner to look like a team guy but this contract is exactly what he has been waiting for. Wouldn’t be surprised to here some numbers getting thrown around soon.

My guess is somewhere around 10.25m x 6 best case scenario is 11m x 8

Yeah I hope a contract is signed soon. A couple weeks ago Dater was saying 8-9 million but now with Marner signed mikko probably won't let that slide. Mikko will ask for Marner money and COL will ask for 9ish and I think they meet in the middle
