Description
The recent Roman Josi deal and the fact that Pietrangelo is at the top of his game in a UFA year makes the liklihood of the Blues re-signing him tough. They also have a need for young LHD and scoring forwards. Vegas takes advantage of all this to make a run for the cup.

Okay, setting aside that we're, ya know, chasing another Cup and thus not trading our captain, I'll comment on the actual proposal. Right off the top, we have utterly no use whatsoever for Eakin. Less than zero. There simply is no place for him on our depth chart. You can forget us ever taking him. We're also not going to be overly swayed by a bushel of futures, as nice and shiny as they may be.

In theory (the only realm a Petro trade takes place) something of excellent use right now would need to come back. And I'm feeling certain that both you and Vegas would have no intention of parting with any of the three pieces from your roster we'd turn our heads for.

Petro for Tuch, Hague and a 2020 1st is definitely what Doug Armstrong counters with. I'm in agreement with you. I am just attempting to play a devil's advocate role here from a Vegas perspective just to see what kind of comments come. You're absolutely right...Eakin has no place on the Note's roster, but the Blues would have to take him to make the cap work in Vegas, thus the extra first rounder. The Oilers DESPERATELY need a bottom six center and have wanted Sanford for a while. Armstrong flips Eakin to the Oil for futures, and if they want Sanford, offer both for something of use. This post was simply seeking fellow Blues (perhaps Vegas) comments. If we move Petro, it MUST be for a king's ransom since (as you noted above) we are looking to win another cup.

This is a sweet return but like.... why? Pietrangelo has been playing like a mad man and we’re first in the West (albeit we haven’t even looked very good.) Feels like a guy who you re-sign even though it’ll get dicey down the road. On the other hand, I’d love to flip Faulk before that heinous contract kicks in, so maybe Vegas would want him.

Yup. And Vegas would probably scoff, reaching for the fainting couch.

A-ha, but then we're just taking even more futures, and not the soon enough kind like Hague. Eakin is a non-starter.

I agree with you, but as I said above, I was trying to play a Vegas role in this trade. I'd love to try and flip Faulk to Toronto actually. Not sure if he'd waive his new NTC we gave him, but Toronto is desperate for RHD and I would think know they aren't going anywhere with their defense. Perhaps a Faulk to Toronto trade works out??? There is no reason "why" to trade Petro. He is simply awesome right now. Parayko becoming a number 1 shut-down RHD has allowed him to play a more offensive role, and he hasn't disappointed.
