Description
Where is your team weak?
Could the Stars be a trade partner?

This is how the Stars might look if they give youth a chance this offseason. I think will be an option for many teams given the possibility of a flat cap. So, this doesn’t address the scoring issues. Then again, if there is (another) coaching change, we could see the team play in a less defensive mindset. Regardless... there are a few players that could be traded to help address youth and scoring. Pitch an offer. If no offer made, this is a probable look to the 20-21 Dallas Stars.

Robertson is better in many ways, but unfortunately he is slower than Dowling. This is my sticking point with him. I could see them rotating in Kirivanta and Robertson.

I would like to see Dellandrea play with Pavs. I see Pavs as being a good mentor to Ty by having them communicate with each other during play.

Dickinson was used as a defensive option with Hintz and Guri.

And I’m still hoping Benn can bring back a little scoring flair. If not, then your right. We should help out Segs with a different line mate.

At the end of the day, Robertson’s scoring ability outweighs the differences in speed between him and Dowling. Dowling is a career AHL player. The 4th line spots are going to come down to Robertson, Dellandrea, Caamano, Gardner, & Kiviranta. Dowling will remain as either the 13th forward or be sent back to the AHL.

The only way Dellandrea and Pavelski see a considerable amount of time together is if the Stars run their top-9 as a scoring/2-way top-9 and then run their 4th line as a defensive/checking line. Pavelski started off slow, but was playing pretty well before the league stoppage. Dallas isn’t going to put him on the 4th line, especially not if they’re paying him $7M to be their 2C.

Dickinson didn’t spend much time at all between Hintz & Gurianov. The vast majority of his shifts occurred in the bottom-6 with Cogliano & Comeau or Perry & Gurianov. He’s essentially a Faksa clone when it comes to his play-style. Perfect two-way bottom-6 forward, but not offensive enough to thrive in a top-6 role.

At this point in Benn’s career, Dallas should move him off of the top line. Give Seguin a couple of players that can match the speedy offensive game that he plays. Allow Benn & Radulov to play on a slightly slower, but more physical scoring line.
