Muzzin hasn't seemed himself this year but settling him on a bottom pairing with a young guy that doesn't take risks, Marino, could be what he needs. This trade gives Toronto someone that can start in Riikola, a prospect, and a second. Pretty fair for a rental that may have seen his best days. I always liked Muzzin and thought the Penguins really missed out on him. Maybe he can settle in here. He also offers some edginess the Pens will need if they bench Johnson.

Panthers are going to want a top defenseman or top defensive prospect for either Dadanov or Hoffman, if they decided to trade them

It is very possible that Florida turns all those down, but things may change if they fall even further out of the playoffs. Both of those guys are set to walk now. Given, their wants will also change and it wouldn't be Schultz.

As for the Leafs and Muzzin, that defense is not going to win anything. They are letting the young skill guys run wild, but they also give up more goals than pretty much anyone in the league. Muzzin is a UFA after this season. If ownership decides their odds are too low, I can easily see them dealing him.

You really think the Devils and Panthers will be playoff teams? I think the leafs could go cold and miss too. Tampa, Boston, Caps, Isles, Pens, Canes. Philly, CBJ and Buffalo will fight for a spot. I really doubt both the Leafs and Panthers get in.

The Panthers have no defensive scoring outside of Ekblad. They may want a guy like Schultz.
