Description
In this scenario Fast traded at 2020 TDL...if the remaining TDL hype amounts to diddlysquat...Who knows what the CAP will be for 20/21...in this scenario the Rangers are still a bit more than 800G over an assumed CAP of 82.5M...w/ Lemieux salary at 1.75M. He would be the last guy signed- and depending on the actual CAP- would dictate what NYR can offer him. If he files for arb and wins...and that number doesn't fit- Rangers would then let him go UFA and replace w/ a cheap UFA or a guy playing now at Hartford.

Looking at the Sharks' pipeline on Dobber- they seem a bit light on LD...but you know your team better than me. In the end- Sharks can use a young goalie and the Rangers need forwards capable of mid 6...Rangers have other prospects and/or picks that can be part of a deal like this if there is interest on both sides for the main pieces.

I knew this extension would get criticized...I'm actually torn on what to do with him. I guess if value presents in a TDL trade- take it and run..but the idea behind this lineup is that other than Fast being moved, the big trades involving Kreider, Strome, and Georgiev don't materialize (the Georgi trade I have is over the summer). The problem with keeping him (obviously) is the # he is going to look for- and which his stats will probably warrant (thanks, AP)....but unless a decent return is coming- moving on from him leaves a very thin forward group even thinner...the question becomes what is acceptable to pay a guy who we all know will be a 3rd liner from years 2 till the end of his contract.

I mean he's on pace to hit 70 points this year. There's no reason he should get any less than JT Miller got...

Kravtsov and Kakko naturally fill top 6 roles next year. Winning next year doesn't really matter. Just setting yourself up for when Hank/Staal/Smith are off the books.
