Description
I'm not saying that Dumba, Kopitar and Anderson are specifically the players that the Flames need to target, but I think players that fill similar roles to them are the ones the team should go after, either now or in the offseason. I also think that the current roster players that are still listed here are the ones you build around. So yes, that means Bennett (who should be playing top-6), Gaudreau, Mangiapane and Dubé are not pieces you want to move. Conversely, Monahan, Jankowski, Hamonic, Brodie and Hanafin are moveable.

Maybe this team is missing a #5/6 dman, but I think this is very competitive. Those are four forward lines that will wear opponents out.

I really like Trocheck but I'm not sure he is on the same level as Kopitar. I know he's got a big contract and he's not getting any younger, but Kopitar is a bonafide #1 centre to play with Johnny.

He is 32 and will be pulling $10M till he is 37!! That is a disaster move for the future. I love Sam but noway he can be a 2nd line centre. Mony for Dumba is smart - but slot Lindholm in to centre that line with Trochek centring line 2. Take the $5M savings and get another top 6 forward or play Sam there.

I disagree about Bennett, I truly think he can play a top-6 role, and just hasn't been given that opportunity. That said, I suppose I could see Lindholm as 1C, and you're right the Koptiar contract would look pretty bad in a few years.
