2 Major problems ending the 2019-2020 season:
1) GOALTENDING: MTL needs a TRUE backup/ fringe starter goalie.
2)DEFENSE (lack of true top 4 D core)
What I expect realistically:
-Romanov sign with Montreal. He comes with Marchenko from CSKA.
-Couple of RFA signatures (Juulsen, Evans, Vejdemo, etc)
-Sign Max Domi "go prove it" contract 2x6M
-Sign Kovy to a one year contract (use him as a mentor and a model for the young core to develop properly).

FOR THE PROBLEMS:
1)Sign Jaroslav Halak to a 2 year contract. This ensures a stable backup waiting for Primeau to develop (BOS will have trouble to sign him because they'll be cap crunched with Krug signing)
2) Acquire Brodin from MIN for Mete (young Dman), Byron (adds depth with a probable Galchenyuk exodus + small cap dump for MTL) and some picks.

Minny easily rejects. Byron has no value and is a bit overpayed, Mete is young but nowhere near Brodin.
If you wanna get Brodin your gonna have to give Domi

Why Byron has no value ? He has two 20 goals season... This year wasn't the same beaause he was injured, but since his return to the lineup, he played very well along with Max Domi.
He has value. Mete also has value. I think here this is a very good trade, getting two roster player plus a 2nd and a 3rd. I think at best MIN can have a 1st rd pick between the 20th to 31th selection. Also, 2 X 2nd rd pick is very good. So i'm not sure if Minny will easily reject.

Can adjust the trade by giving two 2nd rd pick.
2 X 2nd + Mete + Byron VS Brodin.

Look at Muzzin trade : 1st (Bjornfot) + Durzi + Grundstrom.
MINNY can easily draft similar player as Bjornfot in the 2nd round. Durzi is a B prospect, like Mete was. Grundstrom's not ready to play in the NHL as a regular roster player. Byron is. + you get a 2nd or 3rd in extra.

Muzzin trade was not different. It was a similar one that you can the return for Brodin. Domi can be trade one VS one for Dumba, but not for Brodin.
Add a 2nd rd pick with Brodin and MTL will think about it.

Get real Byron and Mete for Brodin is trash for Minnestoa, Either Brodin or Dumba would cost Domi+ not that trash. You're nowhere even close to fair value for Brodin.
