Description
Looking at things long-term, there's probably not an external add the Islanders can make via trade. So, more of the same. However, I do see Leddy getting traded to recoup assets and to clear room for Andy Greene. Aside from potential "best lineup" decisions here with what they have, this gives Lou an indication over the course of the season who he should protect/expose in the 2021 expansion draft. The youth needs to show what they can offer.
Also, this isn't a proposal. This is what I think is most likely going to happen. That roster is also what it will look like at the mid-point of the season as Bellows and Wahlstrom gradually earn more shifts and playing time like what Trotz has gradually done with Anthony Beauvillier.

This is what the lineup should look like, hopefully trotz puts more faith in the kids instead of playing fringe NHLers like komarov/kuhnhackl/boychuk

He's going to rotate Boychuk with Dobson and Brassard with either Bellows or Wahlstrom to start. He always does this with youth. It's frustrating but worth it in the long-term.

playing boychuk over Dobson is embarrassing at this point - boychuk isn’t an NHL caliber defenseman. I get he works his ass off every shift, but he’s clearly not effective anymore. Every time he’s on the ice, I’m just hoping he survives the shift without giving up a goal.

I wouldn’t mind an external move for offense, but then again I believe wahlstrom + bellows are exactly what this team needs. Players with a shooters mentality - trotz can’t short shift them and play them 6-7 min. Let them make mistakes and develop.

Yes, short-term it's absolutely annoying. However, it gives them an opportunity to learn from past mistakes and avoid negative reinforcement. Pelech turned out just great after being scratched 3 times during the 2018-19 season.
