Description
So before everyone goes nuts about this. Here’s some reasoning for this:

1) Andersson trade I made was just based off that both guys need fresh starts, but all of that depends of how much the Rangers value Andersson whether staying or leaving

2) DeAngleo trade I struggled with because he’s become a legit top 4d but with how Fox has progressed and with some of the dman in the pipeline I figured it’d be the smart move. Also they have to pay Fox some big money in just a few years. Doesn’t make sense to have a lot tied up in three RD for years. I felt the return was reasonable too.

3) I don’t get why everyone has this feeling as if Strome is worth big money now. He’s a product of Bread and how good he is. Sign him to a 1yr deal and see how things go. If he’s worth the money and gives you more time to see what you have in Chytil. I look at it like the Hayes situation a few years ago.

All of this is based off who they’re going to have to sign long term down the line and for a boat load of money(Fox, Lindgren, Shesterkin). Plus Zibanejad is a UFA in two years. Lots of hard decisions for the front office to make.

Your return for Deangelo is closer to the ballpark than I've seen elsewhere. Perhaps still a touch short though. Though, it seems like the easiest way to deal with it is to trade Trouba and use the extra money to pay Deangelo.

I think there's certainly an understanding that Panarin heavily contributed to Strome's production, but at this point the "Panarin caused this" backlash is actually way overblown in comparison. Strome was at a 70 point pace this year. 70 point Centers are worth a tonnnnnn. Multiple 1sts etc.. Strome is not that. But Strome is a 45 point Center with middle 6 guys. With a higher peak if you give him better linemates. That's still worth a solid amount. Around a 1st.

The Hayes situation was not really that. Hayes was a lot more self sufficient as a scorer, he was just played in a lot more defensive role, while still putting up very respectable production. He should've been signed long term 2 seasons ago. (Hayes and Gorton were only off by about 500k which is crazy considering they paid Spooner and Namestnikov a combined 8 mil)

Also it's unlikely that one of Miller or Lundkvist doesn't make the team. I wouldn't be signing any D UFA's for more than a year or 2 considering our d prospects coming through.

I meant the situation with the contracts could be similar not the players themselves. As for as DeAngelo I guess you could make that argument but what else do you want except a draft pick? You aren’t going to get another young guy from CGY and Mangiapane is a 30 point guy. The DeMelo signing I think makes sense in a 3yr deal. Steady good steady Dman who can be exposed to the expansion draft. If you’re trying to bet that Miller and/or Lundkvist will be ready in two years which the most certainly could be but I’d rather have more dman then not enough

No way they trade him for DeAngleo and Strome. Monahan is a stud, plus he’s got a NTC I think
