so they upgrade one wing which they dont need all that much, downgrade hilariously on the other wing, but then downgrade on C and add a bottom pairing defender?
this isnt a good idea

Upgrading from Kapanen to Mangiapane is very smart. Trading Johnsson for grit and a conditional pick is smart. I thought that would be the base of the trade (you can add and remove what you want)

Benning is a bad player. His defense is actually decent and wouldn't be a horrible add. He is underrated imo

except that it doesnt make the leafs better over all, Mangiapane is good, but you are not only losing Johnson in that wing upgrade, you are losing kapanen as well. Mangiapane alone doesnt make up for that.
And the leafs dont need a bottom pairing RHD. they have 2 guys who can do that if they need it. It's just a waste of assets decent assets to get him as the primary piece back. And Bennett isnt a 3c
this doesnt even help them salary cap wise all that much. They still need to upgrade their RHD and now they have a weaker bottom 6 on top of it.
