yeah, this happens a lot with teams that are bad for a long time and sell off pieces to contenders or dont sign ufas who go to sign with contenders

The Red Wings were crazy in love with the 1990's Leafs D-Core....Rouse, MaCoun, Murphy, Mironov, Gill (never won the Cup tho) all played for the Wings. I guess it takes one great coach (Scotty) admiring another great coach's work (Burns) to continue to build a successful squad into a championship.
