Description

Barzal can’t play a 2-way game, so therefore he doesn’t fit into Trotz’s system. Also, he is due for a big extension that the Islanders can’t afford. Eichel can play more of a 2-way game, and he’s on a great contract. Eichel also needs a fresh start with a new team.

I'd say the difference between Barzal and Eichel is less than a 1st....assuming even contracts.

I disagree. Eichel is top 10, possibly top 5 in the NHL. He’s just stuck in Buffalo, so no one sees him often enough. Barzal is great. Eichel is elite. The Sabres would decline this.
