Description
I know this isn't realistic. But it's fun to dream.

I don't think Calgary has the cap space for this trade even if they were willing to make it (which I'm not sure that they would). Although try to tell me that watching the Tkachuk brothers fight each other in the battle of Ontario wouldn't be fun.

I also sincerely doubt that Pietrangelo would be willing to sign in Toronto, and even if he was, paying a 37 year-old 8 million dollars isn't ideal. But I think it would be worth it.

Since you already know Tkachuk isn’t getting moved, I will just say that is an impressive overpay to try and get him, and he doesn’t kill penalties.

Fixed the penalty kill. Not sure what I was thinking there. I tried to make my unrealistic dreams as realistic as possible. I know Tkachuk isn't getting moved, but if he was, it has to be one heck of an offer.

I would not be too surprised if he starts doing pk minutes at some point, he has an great 2-way game and is always going to look out for his goalie. Calgary just has so many Pk'ers already, we traded one at earlier this year and are even benching one now.

I wouldn’t be opposed to this honestly. We’ve been blessed with Backlund (a perennial fringe selke candidate) and Lindholm (who should be in that category soon if he isn’t already), but we’ve had good depth penalty killers for a while as well. If we decide not to qualify Janko, Ryan becomes a cap casualty (he’s more of a Peters guy than a Ward guy, idk what the stats say but it certainly feels like he’s being relied upon a lot less now that Peters is gone), and if Rieder walks we suddenly have just those two penalty killers. Obviously a 4th line PK guy isn’t too difficult to find (if we don’t re-sign Rieder which imo is the play, guys like Grant, Thompson, Sheahan, etc. won’t be too expensive) but any way of getting a top 6 guy more minutes is good. I feel like if they’re smart they’ll give him that opportunity next season, and if he takes to it that would be beneficial for sure. If not, cheap PK help at forward is honestly one of, if not the easiest holes in your lineup to fill imo

That is a gross over pay for Tkachuk.
