Description

I think it's pretty unlikely this would happen but it makes a lot of sense. NY can't send Lundqvist down and buying him out still gives them a large cap hit. If he doesn't retire, going to NJ to play behind Blackwood would give him a chance to play 30-35 games and mentor Blackwood. He also gets to stay in New York as I don't think he would want to leave NYC.

I more likely see him staying and Georgiev being traded but this could be an alternative scenario. NJ wants to get rid of Schneider and he's almost untradeable; however, NY can send him down to Hartford and he is an expensive 3rd stringer for 1 year. If he is not picked up by Seattle next summer, then NYR could buy out his final year.

First Lundqvist for Schneider swap I've seen on here. It kinda makes sense if the Rangers are willing to exchange cap space for term but I think the Devils and Rangers hate each other so much they wouldn't do it

No way on the Schneider trade. We don’t need an extra year of $6 mil to save $2.5 mil this year. We’d just figure something else. Also Arizona doesn’t even consider the trade.
