Description

Wishful Thinking:

Johnson for Rask seems like a decent starting point for a swap of bad contracts. The Wild take on 1 year of Bjugstad as a C replacement for Rask and the Pens get Pateryn to replace Johnson. In order to even it a bit more and give the Wild another C option, the Pens add McCann for Hartman (or maybe Donato).

The Pens use Murray to get Tierney for 3C but have to take back Nilsson. Rask helps the Senators reach the cap floor for another 2 years until they're really ready/willing/able to compete.

While I appreciate helping the Wild get out of Rask his contract ends sooner than JJ. Plus the Wild only have two right shot forward so you can’t take Hartman. I like McCann but I don’t think the deal is right.

Fair enough. It's hard to get rid of the turd that is Johnson! I figure a draft pick or prospect from the Pens will probably need to be added, and am thinking that maybe there's a Pens prospect that Guerin might like enough to get the deal done.
Would Donato be a fair replacement?
