SJS decline. Would do Johnsson for a 4th though. Have to realize that while the potential's there, 1) his injury history's a huge concern with 3 more years on a 3mil+ contract and he's only had 1 season that justifies the cap hit and 2) Leafs are in a cap bind.

you make fair points. however, if SJS would only give a 4th Dubas would be better to engage in conversations with other teams. conversations about johnsson are already happening, so Dubas could pretty easily get more than a 4th.

I'm very confident they can get more than a 4th. As Kukas26 mentions, conversations about Johnsson have already taken place with other teams. He did come back from his injury and was flying in the one playoff game he was in, but if there are still concerns they can easily sit on him for a while (they can swing that with their cap with relative ease) until those concerns have subsided.

That makes sense from the Leafs perspective (my 2nd team is the Leafs), so I think Dubas should go another route in that case with one of those teams that'll offer more for Mango. But from SJS's perspective, they already have Johnsson-lite in Sorenson for another yr at a cost-effective cap hit and they need their 3rd rounders to restock their shallow prospect pool.

Makes sense. Just picked San Jose because I often see Sharks AGM's acquiring Johnsson for around this value.
