Description
In my opinion, the biggest front-office challenge for the next couple of years is making something out of the Arizona Coyotes. Thin prospect pool, aging defense, no draft picks = very little to work with.

I'm starting from the premise that there is a core of players who should not be moved, no matter the temptation: Keller, Schmaltz, Dvorak, Hayton, Garland, Chychrun and Kuemper, plus prospects Soderstrom and Capobianco. And I think it's going to be hard to move Kessel or Ekman-Larsson. So the options are limited. I think that the basic principle should be that any trade brings back a draft pick (that isn't a monkey point).

I think Stepan and Raanta are tradeable assets with numerous possible destinations. Hjalmarsson's future is a little more limited.

Note that there's plenty of money in the bank to re-sign Taylor Hall -- assuming a rational figure, of course.

I can see Grabner and Demers being moved at the trade deadline if not sooner, but I haven't put in any thought as to who might need them right now.

I think they can get better picks back for Raanta and Hammer considering the players they are getting back are low in value.

A mid 2nd round pick for Stepan is too much.

    It's not a mid-round second. It's a mid-round second "minus" a mid-round fourth.

4th for Raanta is fair. Asplund is gonna be the 4LW for Buffalo.

I would love to see that.

Just to be on the record: I don't care how bad the cheating was -- depriving a team of a potential lottery pick is too severe a penalty. Pulling that first should have been conditional.
