The Seattle pick of Skjei really helps to make it all come together. Definitely doable when you can snag that extra $5m+ of cap space. I don't think any of these deals are that crazy - the sheer number of moves and offersheets is, but the deals themselves are not too far-fetched. The value is fair for the most part on both sides, with the Mikheyev OS being the only suspect deal (maybe the Bean, Driedger, and Geekie contracts are a little light as well).

If Necas is ready to be a legit 2C, this team is dirty - back-to-back cups dirty.

Yeah ive never understood why people say that the canes cant add at least 1 big contract and not make the cap work. This is an incredible team IF Fleury continues progressing and if Bean/Keane are able to take the step to the NHL. If it works this team contends for cups as all the key pieces are locked up with term. The next issue you would hit is year 3 resigning Necas and Kuemper. I also think having to trade Suzuki to dump Gardiner is a really heavy price, but thats not the point

If Driedger becomes starter caliber or Makiniemi/Kochetkov is ready for starter/back-up roles.. we could then allocate Kuemper’s $4.5M to Necas on a bridge deal and fill holes or make upgrades. The Mikeyev OS is light, and I am sure TOR wold match it but I think he would be a great addition to our middle six, even without all these other moves. Anyways this was just a thought experiment. It would be sick to have all these young top talents locked in the top-6 and the grit, size and secondary scoring of the bottom-6. And of course the D is solid while the cap leaves room for improvements if needed. A half decade of cup runs minimum.
