Rangers first offer sheet Sergachev for 6.54 but Tampa matches so the Rangers offer sheet Cirelli for 6 and Tampa cannot match due to their cap problems. This gives the Rangers a better 2C, allows them to not force their young players (Miller, Laf, Chytil and Kravtsov) into too big of a role before they are ready but still gives them the ability to get a larger role. It also provides enough cap space for the bonuses to be paid.
The Rangers sign Bogosian and trade for Cole to get a physical veteran presence on the blueline and they sign Grabner to get some much needed speed and help on the penalty kill for a cheap price.
