Description
Giving Drouin and Mete to Sabres who need winger and a young DMan with NHL experience. They have Cap space and give up CJ Smith who does well in the AHL, but needs more development to make it in the NHL; Habs gets a prospect plus a 2nd round pick.
Minnesota are changing gears, so Danault will help them at center after a switch from Koivu and old guard; they get Poehling as another good prospect; plus filler players for the farm team and give up next year's 1st round with a multi-year deal for Danault.

Sign in Brassard and Duclair. Both QC born players that can help. Brassard is a proven centerman to help develop Suzuki and KK; and Duclair a Mtl born guy has much to prove after the comments said of him so we could potentially get him cheap... possibly... We sign Hall to a 3 year deal at 8M$ (which was potentially the type of contract he'd like to have given the circumstances).

Why do the Sabres have to overpay to help Montreal get rid of Drouin???

I’ve posted some ridiculous trades before but never tried to say something as dumb as “overpaying to get Danault out of mtl” sorry but what are you thinking?

This team would give the offense we need with Hall pushing Suzuki and Anderson in the right direction;

We get older blood with Brassard who can still produce as a third centerman, but be moved up if need be while providing advice and mentorship to Suzuki and KK;

Bring in a Mtl native in Duclair, he's able to produce, replace on the first line if the need is there, and has been talked against by some bad mouths out there, so he needs to bring it back up and prove himself as a competitive player but also be put back in his place with the leadership of Weber and Hall.

Trading away Drouin to Buffalo will provide Buffalo with a good player, but also a good up and coming Dman with NHL experience. They give up a young prospect that has not been able to prove himself as NHL ready from the games he played, but with the Laval coaching team he may get his second wind.

The big piece is the trade with Minnesota which they get their new second line centerman who can play 1st line; they get a good prospect plus fillers to develop. They do give up a 1st rounder but with Danault there they get better odds at finishing higher in the league so would become a higher pick between 15 and 25 which is not a high price to pay for Danault and Poehling.

Got the comment in the wrong side.. Actually MTL overpays to get Drouin's contract out. Sabres get Mete as a good Dman with experience, and Drouin will play well with someone like Staal. They get a good 2nd liner to play with Staal.

I don't mind this to be honest. Keep Poehling, but dump Verbeek and Dauphin. They're unnecessary.

We'll give Greenway and the 21' PIT 1st to even out trade value.

Now that we have Rossi, we need a good stop-gap until he's ready to take over at 1C. Danault to my thinking now makes the most sense for the Wild to acquire over all targets not named Cirelli. I was kinda unsure how we could pry Danault away after you guys picked up Edmunsdon at D and moved out Domi.

I think Greenway plus the PIT 1st next year for Danault, Poehling and your 4th rounder next year would be pretty fair for both teams.
