Description
Of all the available UFAs left, Hoffman Dadonov And Granlund are the only ones worth signing for Columbus in terms of forwards. From a fit standpoint I think Granlund is both the cheapest and best fit. Feel like Dadonov is the next best fit and Of the three, Hoffman is the worst fit in terms of system and cost. I love Hoffman’s shot and power play ability but i have concerns about how he’d play in the defensive Tortorella system at 5v5. Also think he would want a longer term deal which could be problematic.

Granlund played some of his best hockey in Minnesota in a more structured game also while playing with Mikko Koivu so there is a connection there. Could see him taking a cheaper short term prove it deal after how his Nashville stint went.

Dadonov would be a solid option with his power play and goal scoring abilities, and I feel like he’s both less of a liability defensively as well as a player who could be had on a short term contract.

Which one do you guys think CBJ should pursue and do these contracts seem realistic?

For CLB? Dadonov 100% of the time. He'll be fine in a defensively structured environment, and still likely put up 20-25 goals.

I think he’d be the best fit on the top line with PLD and Bjorkstrand. Granlund could play on that line but it’d force Bjorky to the LW and I’m not sure if he’s comfortable playing LW over RW. Same thing if Atkinson is the other wing on a PLD-Dadonov line

Hoffman would be fun offensively for you guys, but Dadonov just seems like the smart move. Think you're right-Dadonov-PLD-Bjorky or Dadonov-PLD-Atkinson would both be very solid 2-was lines that play the style that you guys need.

Agree that #1 choice would be Dadanov. He is older at 31, but if the right deal lands him, maybe $6M x 3 or 4, then yes.

Granlund is a 2nd choice, Hoffman (to me) is 3rd.
I get the sense Jarmo is done though (with UFA). I think Hall was his primary target.
He might still be working a trade though.

Dadonov has a good history on the power play too so he’s be a solid addition. Hopefully he’s open to a 1 or 2 year deal though
