Description
Lots of competition for the bottom 6 spots, and lots of depth and versatility for if/when injuries strike (at least 2 deep in potential replacements at every position).

I realize not having Robertson in the lineup will be a somewhat controversial take, but I think he could benefit from playing some big minutes in the minors still (maybe even Europe if the OHL & AHL don't start on time). After a strong start, he faded a bit after a few games in the NHL.

Anderson gets 800k imo. Mikheyev likely gets 1.5-2 mill due to Arbitration. I think Dermott gets 2 years at 1.5 mill as well. Fine with the Brassard signing but if they do sign a 3C I'm assuming Engvall+Kerfoot are out the door and Mikheyev plays top 6. Barbanov and Vesey are also projected to be 3rd line players for the leafs (one of them 3rd line one of them 4th line), especially if Robertson does not make the opening night roster.

Mikheyev is a wildcard with arbitration, but word is he doesn't really have a strong arbitration case, as arbitration is all about comparables, and he's only played 39 NHL games.
There's no precedent for such an inexperienced RFA getting such a salary bump.

Dermott really has no leverage with no Arb rights in a weaker market.

I could really see Kerfoot fitting well alongside Matthews (I think he's a better W than C), but still gives the opportunity to slide back to C for injuries/shakeups.
It allows Hyman-Tavares-Marner line to be reunited.

The bottom 6 would be a competition all season... Vesey, Barabanov, Engvall, Spezza, Robertson, Boyd, Anderson all battle for spots at the bottom of the lineup and to be injury callups.
Solid depth will be needed in a condensed season.

Dude I would be thrilled if Dermott and Mikheyev got those deals, I'm just saying don't be surprised if its a little higher then that.

Hyman-Matthews-Marner was actually a stellar line this year and I think Tavares and Nylander showed some real good chemistry together. I wouldn't be upset if those lines were broken up, I just wouldn't really understand it after they worked so well.
