Its kinda weird, right? We are officially committing to a "rebuild" but Stan said he isnt going to ask 2,7,19,88 to waive their NMCs. Outside of Murphy, we really dont have anyone else of value that doesnt look like a long term component. Maybe they decide one of Kubalik or Debrincat doesnt fit as well in the next window because we have too many true left wingers? Maybe Pius suter performs well and they sell him off at the deadline? Maybe they trade Nylander for another reclamation project hoping this time it turns out well? Maybe an old school GM is enticed by Zadorov and we can flip him for a 2nd because of his RFA status. Idk

All in all, its hard to say I'm truly angry at this announcement, mainly because there isnt any real substance behind it. We're kinda just stuck in that no man's land between 10th from the bottom and the wild card. Just gotta hope the lottery balls bounce our way at this point.

If I had to predict, I'd say Murphy and De Haan are gone before the end of next offseason. I also think if they are committing to youth, theres a chance that Strome gets dealt at the deadline and they have Barratt and Kurashev split time replacing him. Im gonna make a spicy predict and say one of Debrincat and Kubalik find themselves on another team. Im gonna say Debrincat at this point because Kubalik produced in the playoffs, but Kubalik is also a little older so who knows, not that i want either of them gone. i'm also going to predict that Lankinen steps up and that he becomes the starter before the end of the year.
Not a prediction, but I hope we sign Kahun back.
