Description
Makar's contract is based off Brayden Point's deal where it's a bridge but it's good enough for now despite their value being higher, It is a massive increase from his 6 figure contract

Landy's contract = pure educated guess, a player like that on a team he loves and what I imagined that would garner

Gruabuer's resigning is based off of a biased but not overly unreasonable prediction of something around the ball park of 55GP 33W 2.35GAA .919% I think he has it in him to have a strong season and a great defensive corps is in front of him. Also, it's a re-signing on a team he knows is considered a contender so I don't equate this something like Markstrom, more like Lehner

I like Martinook, I bet he'd be a good versatile 4C that can play 3C if injuries arise

Lots of rookies but I think with the surrounding talent they're in good hands and these particular rookies by next year I am assuming will have taken steps enough to be NHL calibre, also it's a flat cap and 3 players here increased their share of it this year

Newhook is signed, developing in the minors and on the callup list with Bowers

Jost contract is based off of a prediction of him having a 25-30pt season while improving his defensive and PK game

Girard is now a penalty-killer too, lost his spot on the PP to the rooks and has the defensive ability decent enough to kill penalties especially with his long time pairing partner. He can always go back on the to PP if BB and Timmies can't make it happen

Do you think the bridge option for Makar is more likely than the long term deal?

Well that rhymes, so it must be true haha. In all seriousness though, my opinion and bias may change over the next year, but Graves is much bigger, a bit cheaper, a bit younger and plays really well with Makar. So until I am convinced otherwise or until the expansion comes around and it turns out you're right, I'll be on the Graves side of things.

I think because of being pretty young, being an RFA, how much of an increase it is from what he's currently making and the flat cap, it is quite possible. I would be happy with a long term deal too.

It just seems like sakic knows what he doing from an analytics standpoint so I think he’ll choose to protect toews. No doubt graves works well with makar, but toews is the better defenseman. IMO it won’t be long before toews is on the top pair with makar.
