Still not semi-realistic at all.

McDavid isn't a big enough upgrade over Marner to justify all the adds. Fans here like to overvalue McDavid because he's the best player in the league but that doesn't actually have any value to a market like Toronto. There's no evidence based argument for justifying a big add on top of Marner like that.

What are you saying here? That Leaf fans don't want good players?
I don't understand lol

I'm saying that McDavid provides about 30 more points a season than Marner (less really because hes worse in the defensive end than Marner but lets ignore that for now). You won't find any comparable trades for an upgrade like that for a team when compared to what you are paying for it here. This is a losing trade for the Leafs. We also see in other big trades like this that the team moving the big player generally tends to lose in perceived value.

For a trade to be semi-realistic, it needs to be close in value for both teams. The evidence isn't there to support a payout like this from the Leafs.

Thanks for explaining. I see what you're saying, but 30 points is a very significant amount, and if you think McDavid can be average defensively at some point, then that is the difference you are looking at.
I had a model I was trying to follow in formatting each trade, which was- top line forward, top pair dman, top forward prospect, top d prospect, 1st, 2nd. The Leafs were tough to do this with because they don't really have that top Dman to trade. I ended up using Sandin as my top Dman, Liljegren as my top d-prospect, Hallander as the top forward prospect. To compensate for the prospects not being quite as good as other teams, I made the 2nd into a 1st.
