Description
I think this roster could help this team take a significant run in the playoffs and helps build for the future while also giving this young core a lot of experience in the best competition of playoff hockey. Of course the goaltending needs to hold up, but Shesterkin is something special and Georgiev is one of the better backups in the league.
While the defence isn't star really there on the Left Side both Murray and Lindgren are very solid two-way/defensive d-men who play very safe games. Hutton proved last year in LA that while he's not a top 4 guy like Vancouver was forcing him to be, he showed that in a lesser role, he can be a damn good puck mover and has good instincts. The Right Side is oozing talent with Trouba (who I think bounces back), DeAngelo (absolute BEAST offensively) and Fox (I think could be a consistent top 15-20 d-man in a few years).

Obviously up front I think they got a lot of weapons but the biggest question to me is if Kakko lives up to his potential and can have at least 45-50 point season (29-34 pace in 48 games) and show improvements in his game. He'll be counted on.

Trades
1.
NYR
  1. Murray, Ryan
  2. 2022 5th round pick (CBJ)
Additional Details:
Murray is a damn good defensive d-man who could really help the Rangers with their defensive game which I think is the weakest point on this team.
NJD
  1. Smith, Brendan
  2. 2021 4th round pick (OTT)
  3. 2022 2nd round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
*2022 2nd conditional on if Rangers make playoffs in 2021, if not its a 3rd.
Devils will more than likely be out of the playoff hunt, and they should want to recoup assets for a UFA in Murray.
2.
NYR
  1. Armia, Joel
  2. Danault, Phillip
  3. 2021 3rd round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:
*Danault signs 6x6.5mil deal with Rangers after the season (If Hayes got the contract he did, Danault can definitely get this).
- The Rangers need that stellar 2nd line guy, and while Strome is very good with Panarin, but I think Danault is fantastic on the defensive end, one of the top 10 defensive forwards Imo. His offence has also progressed well, and if he's playing Panarin, his scoring will definitely go up.
- Armia is a damn good defensive wing who could help out the PK for the Rags and he's an above average scorer for the 3rd line or even 2nd line if Kakko struggles.
MTL
  1. Berard, Brett [Reserve List]
  2. Gauthier, Julien
  3. Hájek, Libor
  4. Strome, Ryan
  5. 2021 1st round pick (NYR)
  6. 2021 3rd round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
- If Montreal isn't going to be willing to give Danault 5.5-6mil+ (which he will get) Then Strome is a decent returning centre who could pair well with Gallagher.
- Hájek has decent potential as a 3rd pair guy.
- Brett Berard is a good LW prospect who is gonna be on the Team USA u20wjc team. He's got good potential as a top 9 scorer, despite his light frame, he plays hard, has a lot of speed and Hugh octane talent from reports.
- Gauthier if he's struggling to adjust at the NHL level would be included in the deal, as maybe Montreal can mold him into the player he can be with his skill set. Has good goal scoring abilities.

I'll save you the trouble and just say 0% we make the postseason. This defense is a mess. Center depth is pretty bad and we need to improve our bottom 6 defensive unit.

Both trades are significant overpayments, Murray got a 5th rounder. Smith will make $2.3M in real cash and by the deadline half so a 2nd + 4th is a lot.

Danault is a good 2C. This package inflates his value. Gauthier + 1st is fair game. Armia is a nice defensive player as well, Could throw in another piece albeit a minor one since Armia is a strict rental.

Also a 0% chance the Devils make that trade. I would think Murray could absolutely fetch a 2nd at the deadline if he stays healthy, which is a huge if. His underlying numbers have always been really solid, at worst he’s a number 4 when healthy. No need to help our biggest rival by taking on Smith, no matter how much money he’s owed/making.

I agree with everything u said except 1 thing. I really do believe the rangers have a shot at the post season, not a great chance, but a chance, a lot of things need to go very right, kandre miller needs to be this year what fox was to us last year to solidify our top 4 dmen. Kakko needs to play like a top 6 winger, laffy needs to have a Matthew's type rookie season, shesty needs to be shesty, no dumb injuries, and lastly, you made a great point about our bottom 6, they all need to take a page from lemieux and start bringing some grit and nastiness and being tougher defensively... if they adopt that mindset then we might have a playoff team, might...
