There is absolutely no reason for McDonagh to waive his NTC....for any team. Unless Johnson plays to a near 5m player and the expectation that he will maintain 5m for three years, Seattle doesn't select him despite the sweetener.

Mcdonagh could waive it’s the Boston part that I don’t see happening. Either he’s not very good and they wouldn’t want him even with sweeteners at that cap hit as a team trying to win, or he’s playing well and Tampa isn’t sending him to their top division rival.

You gotta think in order for that Seattle trade to work out Johnson will need a very good and productive season. Basically sending him to Seattle with very little sweeteners as Colton, Sompi, and a 6th have little value. Would be a good case scenario for the lightning.

Brisebois tells him either waive or we sweeten a deal for a team to take you on waivers and you have no say where you go,
Doubt it costs as much as you think to take the hometown kid Stanley Cup Champ

I mean its interesting, u covered that McDonough is gonna be a cap dump ultimately which is good, but i still doubt the bruins take it unless there is some serious retention going on, which the lightning probably wouldnt do. I talked to a few bolts fans about this a week or so back and we agreed that while its possible and smart of both teams, there is just too much cap for both teams to share
