Description
I'll preface with this most likely will never happen. On paper and, perhaps in production, the Hawks are losing their best LWer and one of their most trusted defensemen. They, in turn, trade the acquired LW for a d tandem that was pretty solid late last season in Dallas. Lord knows the Chicago Blackhawks NEED a crease clearing guy like Johns as much as ever. (Never should have dealt him in the first place!). Oduya might be on his last NHL legs but is very familiar with the system and should be able to play top four minutes for the remainder of this season. I absolutely love Boyle. He is a beast! At a million less, he is a better option, IMO, than Kruger. Drouin is a wild card. He is nowhere the player Panarin already is but may be an easier sign than Breadman. Additionally, trade their own 1st to Arizona for Hanzal at the TDL.

While Chicago currently has the most points in the league without the recent benefit of their top leader, they are not dominating other teams, only winning. Do these moves make the team more dangerous to play against? Would they be better, tougher, harder opponents? Do these moves help out their cap situation without disrupting their goal of raising another Cup next spring? Who knows. Flame away, guys!

Hammer has the second best contract on the Hawks behind only Keith. I personally will almost never agree on a Hammer trade.
The Hawks top five (Keith, Hammer, Seabrook, Campbell, Kempny) is a very very strong defensive group. I don't think it needs any upgrading. Seabrook and Kempny are those "crease clearing guys" that you say the Hawks need.
Much of the Hawks seemingly defensive issues are due to poor defensive play/positioning, and breakout troubles of the forwards.

I think by now it's obvious we disagree on the value of Kruger. Would not having his 3+ mil contract help the Hawks cap problems? Yeah maybe. But Kruger>Boyle hands down.
Panarin>>>Drouin
Hawks get fleeced in that Tampa trade. And saying Drouin would be easy to sign is absurd. Did we forget this kid refused to play for months because he thought he was too good? That won't be an easy signing whatsoever.
