Don’t think the Hawks would be interested in Kerfoot’s contract.

The only way they are interested if they can flip Kerfoot for better assets immediately, but then what’s the point?

Predators are unlikely to move on from Forsberg, plus this doesn't get it done, with our without salary retained. Nashville is asking a lot for Ekholm so I imagine Forsberg's price is just as much if not more. Plus, Nasville is unlikely to retain almost 5 mil in cap space for this return with Fabbro and Tolvanen needing to sign this off season.

Fair point of the retention circumstances in NSH. Ekholm's value right now is a first rounder, and a second or equivalent. With cap retention, Leafs would need to throw in more, like an additional second or third or prospect equivalent. I probaly could have added Abramov instead of the third or a second instead of the third. But thats likely what the Preds asking price is for both. I would be shocked is Forsberg doesn't;t get dealt because his value is very high, and the Preds simply won't be winning anytime soon, so why not acquire future value.

Stan Bowman said he is willing to take on salary this offseason. Chicago needs help up the middle desperately if they want to make the playoffs. Dach should be back before then, but who knows about Toews. Kerfoot is a decent centre, and I wouldn't be shocked if Chicago uses him as 2C or even 1C until Dach is back. They could also flip him in the offseason if need be. I probably could have added slightly more value going Chicago's way.
