Miles Wood is everyone’s favorite target when they want to add toughness, but for that same reason New Jersey is not giving him up. I think a much cheaper target would be an Jake Virtanen who has something to prove and would actually be available.

No to the Eichel trade but yes to the grit. The Sabres can not fall behind again. John Hayden, Auston Watson, Zack MacEwen, Ben Chiarot, Kyle Clifford, Keegan Kolesar, Deslauriers. Add 2 to the Girgensons line that would be pretty sick

Canucks fans have said that Virtanen isnt playing physical anymore, nor is he scoring. I used to like adding Virtanen but not if he isnt going to play with some grit

He just needs to get the hell out of that town. He needs a fresh start on a new team, and some motivation to prove himself. I think a trade gives him all of those things. If the coach tells him we brought you here to be physical so that’s our expectation then I think that’s what he’s going to bring. The way he continues to play a fourth round pick might be enough to bring him in.

The Kings have tons of center depth and plenty of other areas they need to improve. This trade takes away their top prospect, their top-line winger who they just extended, adds $10M of cap space, a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for an injured all star suffering his worst career season. Kings decline.
