Description

Caps protect OV, Backstrom, Oshie, Wilson, Mantha, Kuzy and Eller as forwards. Carlson, Dillion and Schultz on the backend. Samsonov as the one goalie. Trade Orlov as a salary dump or expose him. Seattle takes Vanecek, Sprong or Sherry. If OV waits to sign after dispersal draft he could be exposed and Sprong protected. If Orlov not traded, he could be exposed. My guess is the Kraken take Vanecek, Orlov or Sprong. This team would still be competitive and a playoff team, just getting old and not elite enough to be a true cup contender.

Samsonov and Ovechkin decline. I would honestly trade Eller while his value is high in the offseason, and McMichael there as 3rd line center.

Orlov is their best LHD, they think they have a window for 2-3 more years, there is no chance they trade or expose him for anything less than a haul. I feel bad for Kempny but i would be surprised if he ever plays regular minutes again.
